Overview
Artifact is a Portland, Oregon design company whose smoking and tabletop objects combine sculptural forms with magnetic construction.
Its Tempest pipe separates into two halves, while the Vesta vessel combines storage, an ashtray and an incense-burning lid.
Features
Tempest is a smoking pipe with magnetic construction and a two-piece body that snaps open for cleaning. Its internal Labyrinth pathway extends through the pipe before the smoke reaches the mouthpiece.
The two symmetrical halves provide access to the bowl, Labyrinth, and other surfaces for cleaning.
Tempest routes smoke through a square aluminum Labyrinth with hard right angles, rather than a straight path to the mouthpiece.
Vesta is a vessel that can serve as an ashtray, stash jar or lighter caddy, with two compartments, an incense-burning lid and a bottom tray for tools.
Artifact uses anodized aluminum on every Tempest pipe. The anodizing process converts the aluminum surface into a sealed aluminum-oxide layer, rather than adding a separate coating.
Tempest uses Type II anodizing, with color held inside the oxide layer and sealed during finishing.
